Woody, a pull-string cowboy doll, first appeared in the Disney Pixar film Toy Story (1995). He is a vintage toy, belonging to a young boy named Andy Davis. Woody serves as Andy's favorite toy and the leader of Andy's toy collection.

Initially, Woody is confident and secure in his position within the toy hierarchy. However, the arrival of Buzz Lightyear, a space ranger action figure, threatens his status and leads to feelings of jealousy and insecurity. This conflict forms a central part of the film's narrative.

Throughout the Toy Story series, Woody is portrayed as loyal, courageous, and possessing a strong sense of justice. He consistently prioritizes the well-being of his friends, often putting himself at risk to protect them. He evolves from a somewhat self-centered leader to a more selfless and compassionate one, ultimately demonstrating the importance of friendship and acceptance.
